The Inspectorate of the Latvian DPA (Datum valsts inspeckija) has conducted an inspection regarding the use of cookies on the websites of the largest Latvian e-merchants. 29 websites of 26 merchants were inspected, of e-commerce websites offering goods and services to private citizens. Main verification addressed the compliance with the conditions for the use of cookies on the website, including clear, comprehensive information to the user and the way appropriate consent of the user is obtained, including the use of marketing, statistical and analytical cookies, and compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation ( Data Regulation) and the Information Society Services Act, which regulates the use of cookies on websites in Latvia. A staggering totality of websites revealed at list one con-compliance with the mentioned regulations. Find more on the Latvian DPA here.
