The Chief Legal Officer of Google and Alphabet, Kent Walker, points out that for the existence of an open and accessible internet is essential for EU and US to agree on a new international data transfer framework. Walker’s blog also addressed the recent Austrian Data Protection Authority decision ruling that Google Analytics does not provide an adequate level of protection since U.S. national security agencies might have legal tools to access user data. Kent Walker pointed out that “Google has offered Analytics-related services to global businesses for more than 15 years and in all that time has never once received the type of demand the DPA speculated about”.
