The PrivacyRules’ UK member, ShakespeareMartineau, hosted the Inaugural PrivacyRules Annual Meeting – the Founders’ Meeting – in London October 15-16, 2018, welcoming 18 members to the 2-day event, traveling from faraway places including Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Nigeria, Russia and the United States. The event provided a way for nearly half the PrivacyRules members to meet one another and to affirm the mission and direction forward.
On the second day, ShakespeareMartineau opened its doors to clients and friends for an open session in which PrivacyRules members spoke to invitees about data privacy practices, trends, and technology. Mohsen Rezayat, CFO of PrivacyRules and Chief Global Architect at Siemens, spoke to the group about “Exponential Rate of Change and Its Impact on Privacy,” drawing from his experience at Siemens and speaking specifically about artificial intelligence and quantum computing and how advancements in these areas will dramatically alter the world and our current understanding of data management.
The event closed with a cocktail reception for PrivacyRules members, ShakespeareMartineau and their guests where attendees exchanged on the importance of such an alliance in the current privacy climate, and the need to continue the dialogue on these issues as the global privacy landscape becomes increasingly complex. Data privacy regulations, international trade arrangements and technical innovations are changing on a near-daily basis, and it is therefore crucial for privacy experts to come together and learn from one another in order to offer clients best-in-class advice. Today’s economy is truly global and most companies – due to an online presence or type of activity – will be affected in some way by laws or regulations that are outside of their immediate jurisdiction. PrivacyRules members endeavor to offer clients superior solutions by providing local advice in all major jurisdictions, but also by providing a one-stop-shop team of global privacy professionals to serve clients, as needed, wherever their businesses may bring them. For this reason, we were also pleased to have representatives from both the legal and tech sectors with some of our IT members joining and presenting like Ken Morris of KnectIQ. The alliance educates itself on the latest data privacy trends and tech and coordinates this advice to optimize client privacy solutions.
PrivacyRules kindly thanks Shakespeare Martineau for hosting the Inaugural PrivacyRules Founders’ Meeting and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
