Bio

Esq. Hannibal Uwaifo is the President of the African Bar Association (AFBA), called to the Nigeria Bar in December 1990 and member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and a Chartered Arbitrator. He is also founder and Senior Partner at the Nigerian Sagitarian Law Firm since 2005. Esq. Hannibal Uwaifo served as President of the past Independent Lawyers

Association of Nigeria (ILAN) and was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association between 2008 and 2018.

Esq. Hannibal Uwaifo is an old member of the African Bar Association and served in several capacities and held several offices. Under his leadership the African Bar Association has successfully intervened in crisis in several flash points across the Continent including political crisis in Zimbabwe, Gambia, Burundi, Egypt, Algeria, Cameroun, Sudan. Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’ivoire, Mali and so on. He is currently a serving as Commissioner at the International Commission of Inquiry on Systematic Racist Police Violence against People of African Descent in the United States.

Esq. Hannibal Uwaifo is a member of several organizations such as: the Nigerian Bar Association; the International Bar Association (IBA); the American Bar Association (ABA); the Nigerian Institute of Management; the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA); the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb); the African Center for International Criminal Law and

Crisis Management; and the PrivacyRules Alliance.

In his role as President of the AFBA and as active legal practitioner in Nigeria, Esq. Hannibal Uwaifo co-coordinates the activities of PrivacyRules in Africa and supports in the provision of privacy related legal advice in Nigeria and throughout the African Continent. This by activating the AFBA member experts in collaboration with PrivacyRules executive team. PrivacyRules effectively cooperates with the AFBA to promote a privacy culture in the African legal environment and to deliver data privacy services to African and multinational organizations, institutions and entities throughout the Continent.
